For All Eternity
Mei Hu, 2003, 86 min.
Austria, Drama, English and Chinese with English subtitles.
Based on the lives of Viennese citizen Gertrude Wagner and Chinese policeman Du Chengrong, this inspiring love story was directed by Mei Hu, one of the only well-known women directors in China's fifth generation.

Fanny Ebner (Nina Proll) is 18 and beautiful when she meets Ma Yunlong (Wang Zhiwen), and soon the two are madly in love.
Fanny defies her friends and family by following her lover to China, where they are married, but their happiness is attenuated by the onset of political strife, and Yunlong is captured and sent to a prison camp.
Nonetheless, their love survives the decades, maintaining a level of intensity and passionate commitment that defies all odds. [Picture: Location Austria]
